Hutopia , 2025

HUTOPIA originates from the writings of poet and artist Alec Finlay. In Hutopia, hut refers to a small cabin—a temporary, minimal form of dwelling. Here, the “hut” is not a literal structure, but a state: a provisional, minimal space existing for reflection. It is not designed for focus, but to allow distraction—letting attention drift away from grand structures.

Presented by esSAI StudOn, HUTOPIA unfolds as a gradual passage into a home gallery environment. Within this setting, Sai Li’s works emerge from everyday life while subtly withdrawing from it. The exhibition does not begin with the artwork, but at the threshold of a domestic space, where visitors are led step by step into an interior in which exhibition, studio, and dwelling quietly overlap. It asks what it means to encounter art not as object, but as presence dispersed through lived space—suspended between attention and drift.
