Seeing in Translation

Sai Li’s photographic practice begins with ways of seeing, where the boundaries between photography and painting are continuously blurred. In her work, color, texture, and even taste become visual components, forming a painterly materiality. The photograph becomes a site of translation—what appears is a constructed sensitivity, where photography gradually dissolves into painting.
